Bakhresa Grain Milling (U) Ltd is the largest and leading
wheat milling plant in Uganda. Located in the suburbs of Kampala, the company has
been in operation since 1998 with a 250 ton per day capacity which has now
increased over 1,500 ton per day. We have recently heavily invested in several
assets as means to making our operations meet the ever increasing demand for
our products.
We are seeking for an accomplished Tracking/Fleet Manager to
manage and organize our transportation activities.
Overview
of role:
The postholder will be responsible for ensuring Bakhresa’s
vehicle fleet is managed and maintained in such a manner as to support
operations in the most efficient way possible. The primary responsibilities of
the job are: a. tracking and
maintenance of vehicles, b.management of drivers, and is equally involved in
speed, fuel, and safety management,c. ensuring effective and timely
maintenance, servicing and repair of Bakhresa’s vehicles in order to minimize
down time b. Developing, implementing and enforcing vehicle management best
practices, policies and procedures. c. Delivery of training to national staff
in order to strengthen capacity to conduct maintenance and repairs of vehicles.
Thus, they help in improving the
efficiency and managing the quality by identifying factors that can reduce the
staff and transportation cost for the organization.
Primary Responsibilities:

administer and monitor the maintenance, repair,
replacement and logistics of company vehicles Ensure preventive maintenance
programs are carried out as per schedule and monitor post repair performance.

Supervise and if necessary undertake the timely
repair and servicing of damaged vehicles in order to minimize downtime Manage
the inventory of spares parts for vehicles, in coordination with the Logistics
Manager, in order to ensure an adequate supply of spares Conduct analysis of
vehicle status and make recommendations for timely replacement, including type
of vehicles, spares etc.

transfer and movement of vehicles between project locations as required by
operations Provide recommendations for lowering vehicle-operating expenses and
reduce idle time of vehicles Ensure all vehicle operation policies and systems
are up to date and enforced within field operations.

Assist in
the recruitment, training and assessment of relevant national staff
·
Deputize
for the Operations Support Manager when required.
Essential Skills:
The
successful candidate should have a combination of the following skills:

Ability to supervise, coordinate and direct the
work of subordinates.
·
Communicate effectively, both written and
orally.
·
Maintain effective working relationship with
subordinate employees.
·
Analyze the requirements of the situation and to
take effective and corrective action.
·
Work with minimum supervision, meet the
scheduled time lines, and to plan and organize the work accordingly.
·
Proficiency in computer is required to generate
relate work reports.
·
Should have excellent problem solving skills.
Educational Skills:
The
minimum educational criteria required for this post is a bachelor’s degree in
technical field, science and marketing. A master’s degree will be an added advantageous.
Work Hours:
The
daily work schedule of the fleet manager will require him/her to work for
thirty five to forty five hours per week. Occasionally, he/she may be required
to work overtime, in case there is an overload.
Remuneration:
An attractive
level for entry, will vary depending on the skills possessed.
